Shinigami

from AnAthemA by Gabriel Scott

/

about

A Shinigami is a Japanese god of death. This song is both a meditation on my own dis-ease with the knowledge that death is stalking me at all times and a snapshot of the world which makes the daily choice to struggle to avoid that nearly inevitable meeting an ever increasingly difficult decision. This song began as a collaboration with friend and composer Steven Cravis to create a song that was needed for the trailer to an action movie he was asked to submit something for. However over time this song changed so many times and evolved into something rather personal for me that it made best sense to use it as part of this recording.
